He came to this country from Italy with his artistic heritage and the craftmansihip of an Italian master sculptor handed down from previous generations.
Mr. Marmorato started the Art Stone & Memorial Co. to help better serve the custom monument needs of both the monument industry and families in need of a lasting memorial. Three generations have specialized in high quality manufacturing, cutting, polishing, engraving and etching of granite and marble for both wholesale and retail customers.
Art Stone and Memorial was established in 1951 by the late George Marmorato who was known for his fine stone cutting carving skills. Now his son, Peter and Peter's sons, George, Paul and Pete are carrying on the tradition.
Peter and his sons are proud of the service they provide. Quality work, knowledge of cemetery rules and regulations, and the sensitivity with which they treat their customers are also a proud tradition.
Modern techniques enable Art Stone and Memorial to offer their customers an array of different color granites and designs. Portraits on the stones have become very popular and their laser etching capability
All work is done on their premises. Each monument is custom designed for the family as per their personal requests and a scale drawing is provided. This personal service makes the process easier for Art Stone customers.
Many monuments dedicated to local hero's, serviceman, veteran's firemen and also those lost on 9/11 have been created by Art Stone and Memorial. Art Stone also supplies cemetery floral pieces under the name resting place floral arrangements.
Marmorato means "marble worker" in Italian and this fine craft has been passed down from father to son and now grandsons. Also passed down is the desire to serve their customers as well as the generations before them.
